I'd like to announce the preliminary version of my implementation of
a Go board that I have been working on the last 5 months:

XMango version 1.0
------------------

o 1 or 2 player interface to a Go board in the X Windows environment.

o Requires either Athena or Motif widget sets (Athena comes with XFree86).

o Provides 3D look for the stones including highlights and shadows.

o Allows for saving, loading and transferring entire board positions
  across the net (using TCP/IP sockets).

o Provides scoring for finished game (or any point within the game) in
  Japanese or Chinese rules.

What is Go?:
------------
Go is probably the oldest and most played two-player strategy game in
the world.  Originating in China it has become popular Japan and Korea,
and more recently the Western world.  The game invovles placing stones
on the board, never moving them in the course of the game.  I prefer
Go to chess as it is a larger environment and more interesting situations
arise.  For more information on Go, check out the Go FAQ in the /Go
directory on bsdserver.ucsf.edu.

XMango is fully tested on Linux, AIX and SunOS.  It performs well over
SLIP connections.  I have not tested it over LONG range connections
(e.g. me at my slip machine in Texas vs. someone at his slip machine in
Hong Kong).  Please try it if you get the chance.  For Linux it will
compile "out of the box".
