Greetings,

TDE is a simple, public domain, multi-file/multi-window binary and text
file editor written for IBM PCs and close compatibles running either
MSDOS or Linux. TDE is suitable for editing batch files, binary files,
text files, and various computer language source code files.
TDE is a rewrite of DTE 5.1, Doug Thomson's WordStar-like text editor.
TDE 4.0 features include:

Fixed problems in initial Linux port
"+" command line option (some want to use TDE w/ mail readers)
TDE remembers the -b command line option
      TDE to Linux port notes
      Config file for Linux

TDE 4.0 works much better in the Linux environment. A number of bugs
and problems were fixed in the initial port to Linux. The common
wisdom is: don't purchase the first version or the first port of any
software. If anyone is interested, I have included a file of notes
that may be useful to others who may want to write or port to Linux.

The source, tde40src.zip, for the Linux port is on SunSite.unc.edu.
An executable, tde40bin.zip, is also available at SunSite.unc.edu.

The executable was builded with:

   Linux 1.0.8
   Slackware 1.2.0.2
   gcc 2.5.8
   ncurses 1.8.1

Incidentally, TDE works much better with ncurses 1.8.5. TDE does work
with older versions of ncurses, but the colors may be off.

Best Regards,
Frank Davis
