Xfm - The X File Manager Version 1.3
-------------------------------------

Xfm is a file/application manager for X. Version 1.3 has just been
released, and can be found on

sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/X11/xutils/managers
ftp.x.org:/contrib/applications

Features of xfm:

o Real drag and drop between multiple file windows and the application
manager. Drag directories on to the root window to open a new file
  window.

o Files may be dropped onto applications; eg. drag a file to the text
  editor to edit it.

o All the usual file management operations, including move, copy, link,
  rename, delete, permissions etc.

o Timed update of file windows.

o Xfm is small and fast.

New features in version 1.3:

o Colour icons with XPM (distribution includes many icons, mainly
pilfered from other file managers :)

o Recursive copy/delete operations.

o User definable file types/icons.

o In addition to executables, the application manager now allows
commonly used files and directories to be installed.

o Limited support for application groups.

o Automounting/unmounting of special devices (eg. floppies).

o A man page.

o All of the bugs have been fixed :-)

Xfm compiles on Linux and SunOS, and should port easily to most
other platforms.

Many of the new featuress and bug fixes in version 1.3 are due to
Albert Graef <ag@muwiinfa.geschichte.uni-mainz.de>, who is also the
new maintainer. Bug reports, suggestions and patches can be sent
either to him or me.
