The new enhanced IDE device driver for Linux is now available for general
testing. This is currently considered BETA software, though several of
us trust it completely for newer IDE drives.

This driver will eventually become part of the next development kernel (1.3.x)
as a supplement to the existing hd.c harddisk driver.

Current Features:
	- dual interface support, on one (not verified yet) or two interrupts
	- automatic drive identification & configuration for both interfaces
	- support for IDE power management features
	- support for PIO mode3 (drive only: won't work if your interface
requires special programming) (off by default).
	- more streamlined implementation than the older hd.c

Planned Features:
	- IDE cdrom support (we're trying to get the nec260 guy on the team)
	- other goodies

Currently in sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/Incoming.
