A new release of PCMCIA Card Services for Linux is available from
cb-iris.stanford.edu in /pub/pcmcia/pcmcia-cs-2.2.tgz. In addition to
various bug fixes and minor speed and size improvements, this version
features a much-simplified installation procedure. There is also a
new shared-memory driver for IBM Credit Card ethernet adapters.

====> From the README file:

This version of the driver is known to work for kernel versions 1.1.47
and 1.1.48.

Features of this release include:

-- No kernel patches!

-- New file organization, installation procedure, etc!

-- See the SUPPORTED.CARDS file for a complete list of PCMCIA cards
known to work with this release.

-- For systems where card insertions and removals don't seem to be
detected properly, there is a new polled status mode. To enable,
uncomment the POLL_STATUS line in 'make.options'.

-- Completely automatic system resource management: ports, interrupts,
and memory windows are chosen to avoid conflicts, with no user
   intervention.

-- Completely based on loadable modules: PCMCIA support can be loaded
and unloaded at any time, and PCMCIA client drivers are loaded and
unloaded in response to card insertion and removal events.

-- Improved card description file minimizes redundant information, or
information that can be found out from the cards themselves.

-- Compatibility with Solaris PCMCIA Card Services API.
