hdparm provides a command line interface to the hard disk driver ioctls.

It can display/modify/tune various driver parameters, disk information,
and is used to enable/disable IDE multiple (block) mode under linux.

Version 1.3 added a -t (timing) option to perform a read benchmark.
This option also works on SCSI drives, for comparism purposes.

Version 1.4 has now been uploaded to tsx-11 and sunsite.
It includes some changes to the benchmarking code to produce more
consistant results on systems with less memory than mine. :)
Other cosmetic changes are also incorporated.

Look for it to appear shortly in:

   tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/ALPHA/IDE-performance/hdparm-1.4.tar.gz

as well as

   sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/system/Misc/hdparm-1.4.tar.gz
(the file is currently in /pub/Linux/Incoming).

Keep them cards 'n letters coming!
