12. Costs

12.1 Why isn't Raven printed?

I did look at the cost of photocopies, but got quotations of 20p per double page! I did a quick calculation for printing them on a personal laser printer, but even then the costs were very high, and the additional cost of employing someone to make the copies was unrealistic, as well as the huge amount of time and disruption that it would occupy.

Hopefully you can read this on your workstation, but I do realise that people buiding their box might not be happy with that.

Box-shifters out there, wishing to offer their customers the facility of accessing Raven on paper, should contact me by email.

Printed copies may be available in future, but at present I don't have the facilities. I'd prefer not to cut trees, or generate plastic wrappings for incinerators, but these are options, especially when volumes will make this more efficient. However, that may be some time.

12.2 Lets keep Raven unprinted

I know that printed documentation is MUCH easier to read, but lets avoid doing so, if it is practical.

However, this is not a religious war! Things like tables of contents, annotation sheets and reference cards, _should_ be printed to get the most from them.

NOTE: the tables of contents can be printed by netscape to postscript files, and printed as normal through ghostscript.
