Changes from 1.3.48 to 1.3.49
These changes are archived on ftp.crynwr.com:pub/kchanges

I cannot answer questions about Linux -- I merely summarize the kernel
patches after reading them. I try to make them useful to everyone,
but kernel hackers should take them with a grain of salt and read the
patches themselves. The patch file is patch-1.3.49.gz
These are from mec@treflan.shout.net (Michael Chastain)
[he might not want to answer questions about Linux either :) -russ]
- Documentation/networking/z8530drv.txt: new text [Joerg Reuter DL1BKE].
- drivers/char/README.scc: new text [Joerg Reuter DL1BKE].
- driver/char/scc.c: using kernel timer chain; splitting timer routine,
adding support for throttle/unthrottle calls, removed typo in kiss
decoder, corrected termios settings; at last found one (the?)
problem which caused the driver to mess up buffers on heavy load
pe1ayx was complaining about; axattach w/o "-s" option (or setting
an invalid baud rate) does not produce "division by zero" faults
anymore; rewrote memory management; survives flood ping; scc_config.h
is gone -- the driver will be initialized through ioctl commands;
you can compile it as a module now; solved the problem with slip.c;
most ioctl() routines may be called w/o suser() permissions;
found silly bug in init_channel(), some bugfixes for the "standalone"
module [Joerg Reuter DL1BKE, with thanks to PA3AYX Hans, G4XYW Andy,
Linus, and EI9GL Paul].
- drivers/pci/pci.c: add AIC-7874, AIC-7883U, AIC-7884U.
- drivers/scsi/53c{7,8}*: new documentation; compile with 1.2.X; lots more
changes (11274 lines) [Drew Eckhardt].
- drivers/scsi/aha152x.c: barrier()'s added; configurable RESET delay added
[Juergen E. Fischer].
- fs/buffer.c: buffer_protected() changes for ramdisk.
- include/linux/scc.h: new ioctl values -- must recompile apps.
- kernel/ksyms.c: add 'add_blkdev_randomness', 'ip_rt_put',
'proc_net_inode_operations', 'proc_net'.
