TODD STABLEY grew up in Michigan, the son of a Detroit police photographer. He lives in Durham, North Carolina and is a multimedia consultant for the Center for Instructional Technology at UNC-Chapel Hill. He holds an M.A. in English from UNC where he specialized in film criticism, writing a thesis on the color films of Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni. Antonioni's passion for visual expression inspired Todd to revisit the camera, an interest he first explored as an undergraduate and has been actively pursuing for the past several years. He works in both color and black and white. Todd was an early part of UNC's SunSite/ metalab/ ibiblio project, where he learned web and multimedia design and explored techniques for studying and teaching film on the web. Favorite current interests include online portfolio development for photographers, and environmental sound recording. FEATURED PROJECTS I'm working on restoring and printing some photographs by
my grandfather
and uncle. My grandfather primarily shot landscapes in Arizona in the
early '80's, and my uncle
did a series of experimental photographs in the '70's of streetlights
in Detroit. Here's one of the ones I like best from each of their collections:
