This is the experience in the summer of 1985, who can tell us the situation
after 1985?

      So far as I know, the Consular Acts between PRC and many eastern 
European countries were signed or approved by the People's Congresses of 
those countries after 1986!  So People did need visa to travel to those 
European countries before 1986.  

      Thanks to this netter for clarifying this fact.
