A service is being launched to help local employers recruit graduates of
overseas universities keen to work in Hongkong.

The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) will today unveil
the establishment of a computer database of the names and profiles of
students and scholars form Hongkong, China and other countries who have
completed or will soon complete their studies overseas and who wish to seek
employment in the territory.

Known as the BACK program, the database will include such information as
degree obtained, field of study, date available for employment, desired
salary, type of job wanted, current overseas address and permanent home
address.

Registration in the database will be free to students. Companies using the
service will be charged a fee sufficient to cover the operating expenses of
the database.

Access to the database will be granted in several ways including annual
subscription, mailing labels, one-time search, field of study search, per
name and so on.

CIEE is a private, non-profit-making association of more than 200
universities in 12 countries including the United States, the United
Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

Founded in 1947, it is based in New York and operates 10 offices on three
continents. Its office in Hongkong opened in April.
