1. Angry Chinese Demonstrated in Canberra, Australia

Over 40 Chinese students, scholars, Australian sinologists and human rights
supporters gathered before the Chinese Embassy in Canberra this morning to
protest against the show trials of Wang Dan, Wang Juntao, Chen Ziming, Bao
Zunxin, Liu Suli and other pro-democracy activists.

A letter addressed to the National People's Congress and the Supreme Court
from the National Union of Chinese Students and Scholars in Australia, the
Federation for a Democratic China (Australia), and the Chinese Alliance for
Democracy was read aloud before the crowd, and will be sent into the Embassy
via the police, as no-one would come out to accept it, and the students were
refused entry.

The demonstrators held big posters and pictures of Wang Dan, and walked round
and round in a circle at the entrance of the Embassy.

The Embassy seemed all locked up today, well prepared to ignore the
demonstrators. However, shadows of the Embassy personnel were spotted as the
ceremony reached its climax.

"Release Wang Dan!" "Release Wang Juntao!" " Release Chen Ziming!"
"Release political prisoners!" "We want freedom!" "We want democracy!"
"Stop persecution!", shouted the indignant crowd at the top of their voices,
making the slogans resounding before the Embassy's huge building and in its
vast compound.

Recently there are some interesting reports in Washington Post:

1) Former judges of East Germany are undergoing re-education as the basis
for them to resume their jobs as judges of united Germany. During the
re-education period, they have to re-evaluate the cases they handled before
under communist control. Also German government keeps a large pile of cases
concerning human rights and other political cases. Former judges who presided
over these cases apparently would not be able to pass the re-education and
would lose their jobs as judges.

2) Former east German Communist leader Honeker is charged by court for his
direct ordering the killing of those who tried to escape to the West through
Berlin Wall. All together about 200 were shot during their escape. A court
warrantee for his arrest has been issued.
