The Work of IFCSS Exchange Committee
        ====================================

Objectives:

The Committee for Education, Science and Technology and Culture
Exchanges of IFCSS is aimed at promoting advancement of education,
science and technology, and culture in China. The Committe hopes
to bridge between the resourceful Chinese students and scholars
and the needy countrymen inside China. By establishing effective
channels of communication and understanding, we overseas Chinese
students and scholars can help China in the areas mentioned above.

Projects:

	1) Offering scholarships to college students in China who
maintain excellent academic records, hold strong social
responsibilties, and enjoy high respect among professors
		and fellow students.
The number of scholarships are about twenty-five, with
financial awards between US$200 and $500 each.
Participants in this project should be local CSS
organizations or officers of such organizations.

	2) Funding projects on social activities or services in China.
Proposals should be submitted by college student groups
in China and approved by an evaluation subcommittee.
Amount of funding awards will vary with individual
proposals and availability of funds as well.

	3) Helping new students with their travel arrangements: airport
arrival, temporary accomodation, orientations to campus.
Information on individual campuses and CSS contact
		persons will be compiled.

	4) Encourage CSS to interact with interested domestic individuals,
institutions. For example, the committee will collect
information on which professors/scientists or institutions
are interested in sponsoring visiting CSS of some
particular expertises to visit their faculty and research
		facilities and/or give seminars.

	5) Help the high schools in China's poor areas. In cooperation with
the SOS China Education Fund, the committee will initiate
donation drives and send awards to needy students, teachers
		and/or schools in those areas.

	6) Support the selected projects of Chinese Academic Link:
		a) Summer workshops 93
		b) Compilation of Ph.D. thesis abstracts by overseas CSS
		c) KXB Review Column by CAL

	7) The Committee remains open to other potential and feasible
projects proposed by CSS at this moment.
