          Plans for IFCSS Working Committees
          ==================================

Dear IFCSS Members:

In the past three years, the working committees run
by activists and volunteers have played a vital role in the
development and success of IFCSS. Since the 4th Congress,
President-elect Geng Xiao and vice-president-elect He Baoping
have been considering the ways to strengthen the working
committees in the upcoming year. They hope that IFCSS
member institutions, elected officials, activists and all
those who care about the future of IFCSS will provide comments
and suggestions on this matter so that they could reflect the
concerns and ideas of the general CSS community in their
reports to IFCSS Council next week.

Ten working committees have been planned for. They are
(in random order):

     1. Domestic Affairs Committee (China): To undertake
projects which would help China advance in economy, culture,
education, science and technology.

     2. Student Affairs Committee: To protect the rights
and interests of Chinese students and scholars in the United
States.

     3. Human Rights Committee: To conduct human rights
related projects and activities.

     4. Theoretic Research Committee: To serve as a "think
tank" for IFCSS.

     5. Committee on Hong Kong and Taiwan Affairs: To
continue and expand projects such as "Business Workshop."

     6. Financial Committee: To conduct fund-raising.

     7. Chinese Professional Club.

     8. Student Service Committee: Provide insurance and
telephone, movie and other services to IFCSS members.

     9. Community Information Center.

     10. IFCSS Newsletter.

Besides these standing committees, the President may
call for the establishment of special task force when such
a measure is needed.

Any kind of ideas, comments, suggestions are welcome.
Please send your comments no later than Friday, July 25.

     Thanks for your attention.
