ChinaWin 1.0 A Chinese gb (GUO BIAO) file browser for Windows 3.11, Windows 95 and Windows NT, programmed by Sha ZHAO, 1997 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Features of ChinaWin: 1) Easy to use, as any ordinary Windows application. 2) Capable of handling gb files greater than 64k size. 3) Both the simplified and original Chinese fonts are supported. 4) User can select the window's foreground and background colours as well as the page format. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Files needed to run ChinaWin: ChinaWin.exe -------- application program, 230k cclib.16 -------- the simplified Chinese font file, 237632 bytes cclibf.16 -------- the original Chinese font file, 237632 bytes ----------------------------------------------------------------------- How to install: You should open a new directory of any name on your hard drive ( say, c:\ChinaWin ), and copy ChinaWin.zip and ChinaWin.txt into this directory. Then unzip the compressed file ChinaWin.zip using a de-compression package such WinZip. Then you will have ChinaWin.exe in the directory along with a sample gb file from Hua Xia Wen Zia: cm9804a.gb. Also you should install in the directory two font files: cclib.16, the font file for the simplified Chinese, and cclibf.16, the one for the original Chinese, both of them are of size 237632 bytes. The two font files are available from ftp.ifcss.org/pub/software/fonts/gb/hbf by ftp. However, the file cclibf.16 there is compressed as cclib.16.gz , and you have to de-compress it. WinZip is capable of doing it as well. Now you should be able to run the program like any other Windows application. When you first run the application on your PC, ChinaWin will generate a file named ChinaWin.ini in your c:\windows directory. You are advised not to modify this file manually. If you decide not to use ChinaWin and delete it from your disc, you can delete this file as well. Alternatively you can copy the files needed onto a floppy disk and run the program from the floppy disc drive, however, this slows things down a bit. If you want to stick to just one font, you can install only the font file of the one you like onto the disk. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ChinaWin is distributed as freeware to the public. You are welcome to use and distribute it free of charge. Any comments, suggestions or bug's porblems, please e-mail to SHA@DSUN1.CR.MAN.AC.UK Best wishes. Sha ZHAO, Manchester, UK
