ARCHIVAL NOTE ============= chpfontj.zip and chpfontf.zip are in ../../fonts/gb/ms-win nelson chin for ftp-admin@ifcss.org --- In ChPad v1.31 a bug of reading HZ file is fixed up. Tian Bogang, February 1994 ============ The following is the document for ChPad v1.3 ============ ChPad v1.3 : A chinese (GB) file browser for WINDOWS 3.1 by Tian Bogang, December 1993 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- In ver. 1.3 you can use ChPad to browse also HZ file. This is suggested by some user. In pop up menu there is one more item: GB/HZ. If you load in a HZ file without HZ item checked, Click on HZ item will re-display the file in chinese characters. If the menu item HZ is checked, when a HZ file is loaded, ChPad will dispaly it corectly as chinese characters. Files included in CHPAD13.ZIP -CHPAD.EXE -------- main program -TBCH.DLL -------- the dll handling chinese fonts -CHPAD13.DOC -------- this file Please see the following for installation and usage of ChPad. ============= The following is the document for ChPad v1.2 ============= ChPad v1.2 : A chinese (GB) file browser for WINDOWS 3.1 by Tian Bogang, September 1993 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ChPad v1.2 has the following features: 1) You can use it to read a GUO BIAO file greater than 64k; 2) You can use the mouse to select an area and then copy the selected area to clipboard or to a DIB (Device Independent Bitmap) file; 3) You can select the colors of the text and the background when reading a file; 4) You can associate .GB file with CHPAD.EXE, so in File Manager you just need to double-click a .GB file to read it. 5) You can switch between Jian3 Ti3 and Fan2 Ti3 fonts quickly. 6) You can set the number of Han4 Zi4 in a line and the line spacing. The last two points are new in this version. They are kindly suggested by some users. I'd like to give my thanks for their interests in ChPad. Files included: --------------- in CHPAD12.ZIP -CHPAD.EXE ------------ the main program of ChPad; -TBCH.DLL ------------ the DLL handling chinese fonts. in CHPFONTJ.ZIP -GBJ16.FON ------------ the Jian3 Ti3 16*16 chinese (GB) font. in CHPFONTF.ZIP -GBF16.FON ------------ the Fan2 Ti3 16*16 chinese (GB) font. To install: ----------- If you already have the CH16.FON included in WAY3100 from Mr Wang Wei, just download the CHPAD12.ZIP, unzip it and put CHPAD.EXE AND TBCH.DLL in the directory where the CH16.FON is found. If you prefer reading chinese in Fan2 Ti3, download also the CHPFONTF.ZIP, unzip it and put it to the directory where you put CHPAD.EXE. If you havn't got a copy of WAY3100 and you need Jian3 Ti3 font, download the CHPFONTJ.ZIP. This is an alternative of CH16.FON. (More precisely speaking, CH16.FON and GBJ16.FON are different: GBJ16.FON does not contain the bitmap patterns for the GB codes between AAA1 to AEFE). To run ChPad, it is NOT necessary to have all three fonts (CH16.FON, GBJ16.FON and GBF16.FON). Just keep the fonts you need to save your disk space. For this reason, I put the Jian3 Ti3 and Fan2 Ti3 fonts in different zip files. To run ChPad: ------------- Build a new item for CHPAD.EXE in Programer Manager or just run it by clicking File/Run memu in Programer Manager. When CHPAD.EXE is loaded, a help dialog pops up. Just read the help information there. If you change the color, font, line width and line spacing, all the the changes you made will be saved to a .ini file. Next time you start ChPad these parameters are there. I would NOT recommand you to edit the .ini file manually. Differences between ChPad v1.2 and previous version: ---------------------------------------------------- Because the Fan2 Ti3 font is added in this version, the MISC.DLL included in WAY package is not used any more. The TBCH.DLL is written to handle the fonts. So anyway you need the TBCH.DLL to run ChPad v1.2 even though you already have the whole WAY package and you don't care Fan2 Ti3 Zi4. Warning: -------- If you have some video driver for double-byte system installed, for example, that of Twinbridge, CHPAD.EXE will not work well, because this kind of video driver will try to display any two-byte combination inside the GUO BIAO range as a chinese character. Actually if you have such a thing like Twinbridge, you don't need ChPad. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ChPad is free to use and distribute. Any bug reports and comments are welcome. Please EMAIL to Tian Bogang cbogang@icil64.cilea.it
