Who goes to raves? In North Carolina, ravers are generally white and 14 to 30 years old, with most in high school or college. Whether an age requirement should be imposed is a hot topic of debate.
As the average age of partygoers has gone down, some raves have kept underage kids out, making the cutoff at 16 or 18 years. Others have imposed the age limit until 2 or 3 in the morning, after alcohol has stopped being served. Complaints from parents, pressure from police and media, and the presence of drugs have all been factors.
