Yes, I agree. Whenever I get in my car, and see that the speedometer goes
to <gasp> 140, my eyes glaze over and I start mumbling my Homer-wants-
donuts mantra: "Mmmmmm.....speeding......swift, fast, illegal speeding....."

I think he's on to something.

The majority of airplane crashes are caused by altitude! We should also
ban airplanes from flying. Milons (cheap shot, I know) of lives would be saved
in the long run if airplanes were unable to exceed a safe altitude.

Safe speed is determined by driver skill, vehicle capability, road conditions,
traffic congestion, weather, ..... A one-size-fits all speed limit doesn't really
exist. I'm really glad the control-freak viewpoint is in the minority in this
country.
