WELCOME
The Semiconducting and Insulating Materials Conference - SIMC-XII-2002 will be held in Smolenice Castle, Slovakia from Sunday, June 30 to Friday, July 5, 2002. This conference will be the twelfth of the biannual SIMC series. The first conference, held in Nottingham (UK) in 1980, was entitled "Semi-Insulating III-V Materials Conference". In 1996 the title was changed to "Semiconducting & Insulating Materials", following the expanding scope of the conference.
ORGANIZER
The SIMC XII is being organised by the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The conference is sponsored by the IEEE Electron Devices Society and by few other sponsors, such as scientific institutions and companies involved in the field covered by the conference's scope.
VENUE
Smolenice Castle, the Congress Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, lies in the beautiful countryside on the southern slopes of the Small Carpathians, approximately 50 km north-east from Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Bratislava has a small international airport. The nearest large international airport is in Vienna-Schwechat, which is about 50 km west of Bratislava. Regular bus lines and taxi services from Schwechat airport can be used to get to Bratislava. It is also reached easily by car or train from Vienna (60 km), Prague (350 km), and Budapest (200 km).
