The first four-year class graduated and the institution was renamed Fayetteville State Teachers College in 1939. The College merged into the University of North Carolina in 1972. Currently, FSU's instructional programs at the undergraduate level are organized under the schools of Business and Economics, Education, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Undergraduate instruction is provided in the educational center at nearby Fort Bragg/Pope AFB. FSU offers masters degrees in 14 fields and doctorates in one.
