Phone: 715-4490 NOTE: The 1997 teen pregnancy rates for all counties, as well as information for past years, are available in the vertical files, which are located in NRD. Numbers of teen pregnancies can also be found in LINC using variable #502. What does it mean? The definition of number of pregnancies for females, age 15-19, is the total number of the following events during the calendar year to resident women ages 15-19: live births, fetal deaths of 20 or more weeks gestation and induced abortions. Stillbirths of less than 20 weeks gestation are not included in this count. These figures are generated by adding data from birth certificates, fetal death certificates, and induced abortion reports from abortion providers. The sum of the counties does not always equal data for the state since the state includes persons whose county of residence is unknown. Pregnancy rates are created by dividing pregnancies by female population 15-19 and multiplying by 1,000. This yields pregnancy rate per 1,000 women in this age group.
