It became the State Normal and Industrial College in 1896 and North Carolina College for Women in 1919. In 1931, it merged with the University of North Carolina as Women's College of the University of North Carolina, and was renamed the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1963. Currently, the university is co-ed, and offers programs at the baccalaureate, master's, intermediate, and doctoral levels.
