N&O Newsroom
Contests & Awards

Here's the official contest list. The list was compiled in order to limit contests to those sponsored and judged by journalists and to give everyone an equal shot at entering.

What you should do:

  1. Tell someone: Some contests limit the number of entries that can come from any paper. For those, please check with Will, Mike or Melanie. To help us keep track, please send Melanie a note letting us know what contests you plan to enter and what stories will be entered.
  2. Pay for it: The N&O will pay entry fees for contests on this list, but not for other contests. Give Patricia a copy of the completed entry form. Not the original, a copy. She'll cut the check and give it to you to mail with your entry.
  3. If you win: Winners will be announced in the paper. We will send first-place winners of some of these contests to award ceremonies. Names of those contests are at the bottom of this page.)
