ProfNet is a cooperative of public information officers (PIOs) linked on the Internet to provide journalists convenient access to expert sources.

As of July 1995, ProfNet's membership included 2,000 PIOs representing 800 institutions in 17 countries. For the most part, the members are affiliated with colleges, universities and a wide range of government, corporate and non-profit entities oriented to scholarship and research.

In submitting queries, please specify your news organization, the nature of your project, the nature of the expertise you seek, your time frame and the manner in which you wish PIOs to respond. The more detailed your query--and the more lead time you give them--the more successful your search will be.
