Welcome to the Spinix Operating System Distribution section.  In this section you will find information on the current release of Spinix as well as information on future versions.  Links to obtain the latest as well as earlier versions can be found here.

Bash Version: 2.05b

Gnome Version: 2.2
Other Information: Spinix 0.9 comes with an all new installer.  If your computer can not boot the ISO you will need to make a bootdisk and a root filesystem disk.
Download and installation instructions of Spinix 0.9
Step 1.  Obtain the ISO Image from the link below.
-Spinix 0.9 ISO Image                  [filename: spinix-current.iso]
Step 2.  Once the ISO has finished downloading.  Using a CD-Writing tool, write the ISO Image to a blank CD-R.
Step 3.  Once that is complete download the bootdisk and root filesystem image files from the links below if your computer does not support booting from cdrom.
     -Spinix Bootdisk Image                  [filename: boot.img]
-Spinix Root Filesystem Image       [filename: rootfs.img]
Step 4.  Once the download has completed and while in console'cd' to the directory where the image files are saved, insert a blank floppy disk and type 'dd if=boot.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=1k'.  Once that has finished insert another blank floppy disk, only this time type: dd if=rootfs.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=1k
NOTE:Win users need to get RAWRITE to make the floppy images
Step 5.  With the Spinix CD in your CD-ROM, and the bootdisk in your floppy drive, restart your computer and follow the instructions. Again, you only need the boot disk if your computer does not support booting from cdrom.
