SrI: Dear SrI Sukumar: The name "Hayagriva " is made up of two individual words: Haya nad GrIva . Haya means horse and GrIva means neck . The Lord , who is considered as the First among AvathArAs and linked also to VyUha Moorhtys is BhagavAn HayagrIvan . The offering that is pleasign to Him is " Horse Oats" or HayagrIva. A Saint of MaadhvA tradition by the Name of VaadhirAja Theerthar used to offer that naivEdhyam to the Lord holding above his head and close his eyes . Lord HayagrIvan would appear in the form of a horse, place His tow front legs on the shoulders of the AchAryan and consume the NaivEdhyam. You can see a picture of this event in Uduppi Mutt walls. Same presence of Lord HayagrIva and consumption of the food offerign special to Him has happened in recent memory to a SrI VaishNavite AchAryan belonging to SrImad Andavan lineage . You must recieve ManthrOpadesam from ParakAla matam Jeeyars on Lord HayagrIvan's manthram and learn about the correct way to perform AarAdhanam of this Lord , who the AadhAram for Sarva VidhyAs.
