TTD to celebrate Platinum Jubilee in June

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) which manages the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala near would soon construct pilgrims accommodations in a big way at an estimated cost of about Rs.314 crore on the hills.
The TTD board in its monthly meeting on the hills has today resolved a decision to provide accommodations for 12,000 more pilgrims for their short stay during their visit to the hill temple, TTD Chairman, Mr. B. Karunakara Reddy told media persons.
A multi storied massive free meal complex with a 10,000 seating capacity including modern kitchen facilities would also be constructed on the hills at the earliest, he said.
The TTD would conduct Platinum Jubilee Celebrations called as Amruthotsavam here in June next to mark the completion of 75 years for the TTD which took the reigns of the hill temple in 1933 from Sri Swamy Hathiranjee Mutt, a Charitable out-fit, he added.
Temple sources said that to look after Tirumala hill temple, the combined Madras state legislature passed a special act in 1933 whereby the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) committee was invested with powers of administration and control through a commissioner appointed by the Government of Madras. http://www.tirupatitimes.com/
