All these are contained, in a contractual form, in the name, ânArAyaNaâ. SwAmi Desikan lists out these: 1) âjIva-ISvarar-kaLuDaiya cEtanatvam,â:- Both the jIvas and the Lord are sentient. 2) âsvAbhAvika-mAna bhEdamâ :- The essential nature of the jIvas is different from that of the Lord. 3) âjIvarkaLuDiya anyOnya-bhEdamâ:- The jIvas and the Lord are mutually different. 4) âsarvarukkum ISvaran oruvanE sakala-abhimata-hEtuâ :-- The Lord alone grants all the benefits sought by all the jIvas. 5) âupAya-bhootan tAnE prApyanâ:-- The Lord alone is the means for the jIvas to attain mOksha and He Himself is the fruit enjoyed by them. 6) âithukkuc cErntha ubhaya-lingatvamâ:-- In keeping with this, He has two aspects â a) He is devoid of all negative qualities; and b) He is the repository of innumerable auspicious qualities. 7) âubhaya-vibhooti-yOgamâ:-- He is Lord of this world (leelA vibhooti) and the Paramapada (the Nitya-vibhooti). 8) âsarva-vidh-bandhutvamâ:-- He remains all types of relation to the jIvas. âitthirunAmatthilE samkshiptangkaLâ:-- All these nuances are contained in this name, ânArAyaNaâ, in an abridged form, says Swami Desikan.
