Sri:

SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha,

Dearest Sriman Madhavakkannan Swamin,

Thanks for your thought-provoking answer. Adiyen however thinks that
Kumari Kalaivani's question pertains to Thayar's residence in the
Lord's Vakshasthalam and whether it pre-dates the Kurma Avataram.

Based on the Shruti vakyams "naranArImayO Hari", "narayaNAthmikA
devi", "hrIshchathE lakshmIscha pathnyoU", and "pruthivyA asyEshAna
jagathO vishNu pathni", it readily follows that Thayar's residence in
the Lord's Vakshasthalam is eternal and has been so from
beginningless time. Further testimony in support of the eternal union
between the Lord and Sri can be found in the dvaya mantram, which
glorifies the concept SharaNagati to the Lotus Feet of our Lord never
separated from Sri. The benefit of SharaNagati is jointly conferred
by the Divine Couple. Furthermore, it is a yajna performed by Our
most compassionate Lord. The term pathni is reserved for exclusive
use in the context of yajna. Since this yajna has been performed from
beginningless time, it follows that the union between Perumal and
Thayar is eternal. The Agamas extol the eternal union between Perumal
and Thayar as "Ekamath sahachari". Swami Desikan extols these
aspects in the Sri sthuti salutations "vakshapItIm madhuvijayinO
BhUshayanthIm svakAnthyA", "dampathi daIvatam na:", "jangamA
jangamAnAm", "AchakyusthvAm priya sahacharImaIkamathyOpapannAm",
and "asyEshAna thvamasi jagatha: samshrayanthI mukundham".

Hope this serves as input for further reflections.

Namo Narayana,

SriMuralidhara Dasan
