The quotes and references by our
pUrvAchAryas give us certain finer details
Here is one from Srimad
RamAyANam:
For the
pAsuram
ThOALum
ore nAnguDai -TiruvAimozhi 3-7-2; A discussion took place wth
Sri Bhattar whether The Lord will have four or two shoulders in Sri
VaikunTAm.
Here, for some souls The Lord
reveals His four divine shoulders.
The words of ManDodhari is quoted
here as
'thamasa:
paramOA dhAthA sanku chakra:gaDhA dharA:'
From these words we understand that
Sri RamA had given her the vision of Four Divine
Shoulders.
ThiDa visumbu eri
vaLi 1-1-7 of TiruvAimozhi
The prefix 'thidam' is given by
AzAr to visumbu. Sri NampiLLai points out the reason for this from upanishad
vAkyam.
Visumbu or AkAsam is the first of
the pancha bHudham-s to be formed and exists for some time even after the others
cease to exist.
The ThaithrEyam is quoted
here:
"thasmAthvA
yethasmAthAthman: AkAsasambUdha: AkAsath vAyuhU:'
EDu: AThAmana AkAsasambUdha: enRu
sollugiRapadiyEa, allAdha bhUdhangaLukku munnEavuNDAi, avai azhithAlum, sila nAL
niRkak kadavadhAiyAlEa thrudhamAna visumbennavumAm"
As spelt out in AthmAna
AkAsasmbUdha: the AkASam comes to existence before other pancha bUdhams and
exists for sometime even after others cease to exist.
This particular quote not just
gives us the finer detail but also incisively give out the reason why the AkAsam
is given the adjective of 'thidam'
