Sri:

SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha,

Dear Sadagopan,

Thanks a lot for your note. Indeed RPS verse 508 is extremely
touching. Here, Swamy Desikan seems to mirror the thoughts from verse
30 of the Daya Shatakam, where in a mood of intense
naichyanusandhanam, Swami declares that he is an aparadha
chakravarthi. H.H. Srimad Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami provided an
excellent explanation of this verse as

"Due to association with karma, I am caught in this chakram of
aparadham. As a result I am suffering from the unbearable heat of
Samsaric afflictions. Oh Daya Devi only you can redeem me.

Lord Srinivasa is the emperor of the entire universe (AkhilAnda kOti
BrahmAnda nayakan). I too am an emperor-of what? Aparadhams. However,
You (Daya Devi) are the empress of the Lord's auspicious attributes.
Therefore, you are the one that is most suited to facilitate the
union between the two emperors!

The logic for this is simple. A thief will not admit to his crime
unless he is shackled by a policeman, soundly beaten and produced
before a judge. In a like manner I too cannot voluntarily fall at the
Lord's Feet and accept responsibility for my crime. Therefore, Oh
Daya Devi I beseech you to bind me and throw me at the Feet of Lord
Srinivasa. You alone can pave the way for my redemption."

Swami Desikan seems to mirror the same thought through the rays
emanating from the gem-bedecked Padhuka as the net that captures him
and unites him with the Lord. It is easy to make the association with
the Daya Shatakam salutation by recognizing that the Padhukas are
verily a manifestation of the Lord's Daya.

Namo Narayana,

SriMuralidhara Dasan
