Today (Purattasi-Pooradam) Oct 3, 2003 is the 304th Thirunakshatram of
Srimath Thirukkudanthai Desikan (1700 - 1781) also known as Gopalarya
Mahadesikan. He is an important Acharya in the Munithraya sampradayam.
His thanian reads as

Sri Krishna dEsika PadAmbuja Brunga rAjam
VEdAntha lakshmana muneeindra kripatha bOtham
Thraiantha dEesika yatheendra satAri moorthim
Gopala dEsika sikAmanim Aasrayamaha

Srimathe Gopalarya Mahadesikaya Namaha

Meaning of Thanian: Like a bee which goes after the lotus for nectar, He
went after the feet of Sri Krishna Desikan (who was his Father) and had
his Pancha Samskaram and Veda Adyanam under him. He absorbed Vedhantha
gnanam from Vedhantha Lakshmana Muni (Sakshath Swamy). He is an
embodiment of three great acharyas Swami Desikan, Sri Ramanuja and Swami
Nammazhwar. We seek refuge and prostrate such a great acharya Srimath
Gopalarya Maha Desikan.

Adiyen compiled a three part series on Srimath Thirukkudanthai Desikan's
Life history and Vaibhavam and posted last year in ramanujamission
yahoogroups. The links are provided for those interested.

Part I covers the early year of Srimath Thirukkudanthai Desikan and his
compositions.

Part II covers the establishment of three acharyas as pravarthakas of
Munithraya Sampradayam, his kainkaryam at Thirukkudanthai Sri
Aparyabdhamrithan sannidhi and mangalasasanams of other divya desams.

Part III illustrates the similarities of Srimath Thirukkudanthai Desikan
with Swami Nigamantha Mahadesikan and why he is considered an
aparaavatharam of Swami Nigamantha Desikan.
