Surrender Unto Him
-Him with Periya pirAtti -
naimisAraNyam
sri thiurmangai mannan,
recalling his earlier life events and stages surrenders at the feet of Lord of
naimisaranyam.
Here, AzhwAr's action again
sets a precedence and is a guding star for us. He surrenders to the Lord who is
the Lord of periya pirAtti, highlighting the fundamental of our srEvaishNavic
philosophy.
This is the sixth
thiru-mozhi in the first ten- "vAnilA muRuval siRu nudhal
perum thOaL"
In each of these pAsuram-s
AzhwAr tearfully and regretfully realises the past mistakes and falls at the
feet of the Lord.
"vandhun
thiruvadi adaindhean", "nalam purindhiRainjum
thiruvadi adaindhEan" "nAnudaith thavathAl thiruvadi adaindhEan" are the
oft repeated emotional words of AzhwAr while surrendering unto the feet of the
Lord.
swAmi periya vAchAn piLLai
in the commentary has described this as "....thiru naimisAraNyathilEa niRkRa sarvEswaran thiruvadigaLilEa
periya pirAttiyAr munnilaiyAga saraNam
pugugirAr"
AzhwAr surrenders unto the
feet of the Lord in the presence and at the behest of periya-pirAtt would be a
crude and literal transalation.
This can be understood from
the penultimate pAsuram of this thirumozhi- "thEanudaik
kamalathu thiruvinnukkarasEA" referring the Lord as the Lord of the
peirya pirAtti -thiruvinukku arasEa;
"purushakAram" is the appropriate word in the vyAkyAnam for
this purpose.
vandhun thiruvadi
adaindhean
naimisAraNaythauL
endhAi.
