Dear bhAgavatAs,

First we have very good news to share with you this tamizh new year.

Over the past, due to the efforts of many devotees in the US (srI
rAman kaNNan svAmi, srI diwakar kaNNan svAmi, srI sundar sAranAthan
svAmi are bhAgavathAs who deserve key mention due to their efforts),
and in the Gulf and in India, we have been able to organize support
for many divyadEsams in India on an ongoing basis. Some of the
divyadEsams where we are continuously providing support are

(i) thiru-k-kUdalUr (Aduthurai perumAL kOvil)
(ii) thiru maNi-k-kUdam
(iii) thiru arimEya viNNagaram
(iv) thiru-k-kAvalambAdi
(v) thiru - siRu puliyUr

For the above 5 temples, we are providing monthly support (Salary
for priests, weekly thadeeya ArAdhanas in some temples, and regular
thadheeya ArAdhanas in othes). This has resulted in much improvement
in these temples.

The jagadrakshaka perumAL temple in thiru-k-kUdalUr is of special
importance. BhAgavatAs will remember last year when adiyEn posted
details about the dilapidated state that this temple is in, and the
need for support for this support. The support we received from
bhAgavatAs was very high, and we were able to set up support
mechanisms in this temple.

Now, the temple is open for 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in
the aftenoon every day. Every saturday almost 100 local people come
to the temple and participate in a thadheeya ArAdhana. It used to be
that only 5/10 people came before, and practically no one during
other days. There is a tremendous amount of local involvement in the
temple now. We have been approached by the priest multiple times to
increase the funding for saturday thadheeya ArAdhanAs because the
number of people are so high and there is not enough prasAdam for
everyone!. Also, a bhAgavatA gathers local children regularly and
performs bhajans in the temple. Recently, he conducted a thiru-p-
pAvai competition among the local children, and we supported the
prizes for that occasion.

All in all, this temple is a great example of what happens when
devotees take interest. The Lord Himself decides to multiply the
efforts by an infinite amount! Suddenly things started happening,
and the temple is now being renovated. During the renovation
preparation, a tree in the temple was about to be cut down, when the
workers discovered a "shankam" (divine conch - pAnca janya) form in
the tree, and left it alone. It has attracted thousands of local
people from the neighbouring areas. One can see the details in The
Hindu:
http://www.hinduonnet.com/fr/2003/03/28/stories/2003032801200600.htm

Finally, jagad-rakshaka-perumAL (vayyam kAththa perumAL) is now
making arrangements to have His own abode renovated so that His
devotees can come in throngs to be with Him.

VEDICS, naturally is in the process of raising funds to be a part of
this occurence. Already, a bhAgavata has committted $2500 on a
dollar-for-dollar match basis for this kainkaryam. Our goal is to
raise $20,000 for this effort. The highlight of this samprOkshaNam
is that srI srI srI tridaNdi nArAyaNa rAmAnuja chinna jeeyar svAmi
is going to preside over the samprOkshaNam for five days (June 6 -
11). A big vEda pArAyaNa/divya prabhandha gOshti is going to be
conducted. So are vidwat sadas in pAncarAtra and vaikhAnasa Agamas.
Thousands of people are expected to participate in this unique
event.

The breakdown of the total costs are given below. VEDICS would like
to sponsor one or two complete kainkaryams on behalf of all the
bhAgavatAs who donate.

Total cost - Rs 42 lakhs estimate

Key costs

1. madhil (main wall) - Rs 3.2 lakhs

It is possible to sponsor individual events too (like the thadheeya
ArAdhanai for the five days before samprOkshaNam etc..). Please let
us know if anyone is interested in such a kainkaryam.

We would like to request all bhAgavatAs to take part, irrespective
of the amount they want to contribute (even 1 $ is fine). The joy of
kainkaryam is such that the more people participate, the more effect
there is. This temple is a prime example of what happens when
devotees take interest. Let us continue with the support for this
temple.

Please visit
http://www.vedics.net/cbin/vedApp.pl?appName=tkudalur
and suppor this kainkaryam. Vedics will send a CD of
the 18 rahasyAs upanyAsam by srI. vELukkudi krishNan svAmi for
all those who donate $25 or more.

irAmAnusan adiyArgaL.
