 guNam pORRi

Twenty fourth pAsuram is AndAL's thiruppallAndu. The fifth event which gets
AndAL's thiruppallAndu is " kunRu kudaiyAi eduthAi guNam pORRi".

AndAL praises the guNam of the Lord on taking up the goverdhana giri as an
umbrella for saving the gopikAs and the cattles. What is the guNam here?

The first guNam is emperumAn's generosity in not vanqusihing indhira instantly
on indhirA's action of creating the ceaseless rain. Instead the Lord waits till
indhiran gets exhausted and then condones him. This guNam is celebrated.

The next guNam referred here is the emperumAn's kalyANa guNam. Which kalyANa
guNam?
Each kalyANa guNam. Daily AzhwAr discovers one kalyANa guNam and learns and
cherishes it. This guNam is referred to here in ARAyirappadi. From which
pAsuram.
>From nam AzhwAr's thiruvoi mozhi 1-8-4- 'veRpai onReduthu, voRkaminRiyE,
>niRkum ammAn,
sEr kaRpan vaigalE'. The ARAyirappadi vyAkyAnam is as follows in this
context"aRivudaiyAr nALdhORum kaRpadhoru guNamiRE".

The next guNam referred to here is empurmAn's rakshagathvam. The act of saving
the catlles and idaiyargaL for all the seven days under the hill/umbrella. The
fingers do not get fatigue on continuous stress or strain of holding the hill.

It can be taken that all the auspicious qaulities are referred to here in the
general term as
'guNam pORRi'
