Sri: Humble pranam to all devotees of the LORD: Since adiyen received some mails regarding this, it is my duty to make sure this clarification also gets posted here, Adiyen wrote:===================================== The yellow color is also used by Vaikhanasas Vaishnavas who do not undergo Bharanyasam, (They undergo panchasamskaram while in thier Mother's womb) End original note======================================= This was in clarification to sri Srinivasan Narayanan's qs, that after Bharanyasam yellow srichurnam is adorned, The point adiyen made above is that there are others who do not undergo Bharanyasam and still adorn yellow sriChurnam. PS: There are Vaikhanasa priests in many many DhivyaDesams who wear RED Srichurnam. Adiyen wrote:===================================== All the Thengalai sampradaya wear red SrIChurnam. End original note======================================= I have heard from others that some Y based thiruman adorners also wear the yellow Srichurnam. Adiyen wrote:===================================== These arguments on color of Srichurnam did not exist during Ramanuja, Lokacharya, Vedanatacharya or Mamunigal's time. (they would have mentioned this in some work) So these are new developments (about 200 to 300 years) in our age old sampradaya (Starting from the Lord Himself), End original note======================================= This is not written with ANY internt or meaning to show one is authentic than the other etc, Adiyen wrote:===================================== It has become common in recent times for some to argue that yellow SriChurnam alone is correct for Vadakalai based Sri Vaishnavas. And some Acharyas have started making this a standard to enforce. I have seen many families, who were wearing Red, stating vehemently that is what their ancestors had adorned. Then One fine day, they change to Yellow as their Acharya has told them to Change. (Going against Andal's teachings "SeiiyaDhana Seiiyom") End original note======================================= There is NO intent here to say anything against any acharyas, just a request that if our parents, grandparents have been doing something, it is better to follow family practice. And in case of any contradiction it is better to talk discuss with your respective acharyas (or their Srikaryams) to get the clarification for the changes. Adiyen just keeps trying to treat all devotees with utmost respect, but inadvertently some devotees are hurt, It is very unfortunate, Please forgive me if anyone has been hurt with this note. It is sad, the very symbol (Lords feet adorned on our forehead with Thayar)expressing Perumal, Thayar, & Acharya, would create strife in our community today, adiyen's sincere prayers for a better understanding that will help us live and communicate harmoniously.
