AchArya Hrdhayam 219 contd.

The Lord graced AzhwAr by His voluntary Grace and settled in Azhwar's mind.
AzhwAr appreciated his mind for this and cherished the qualities of the Lord.
He started counselling the fellow souls regarding the do-s and dont-s and gave
thirumandhiram's essential elements to them. The Lord is easily accessible. He
condones our mistakes. He mixes with us freely. He does not expect anything big
in return. He himself is the remedy for the births and re-births.

Further,

"..i..nEr puraiyath thannai niyamithu;ii. bhOgathai sAthmipithu; iii.bhakthi
kananaigaLukkuokka varumavanudaiya sEvaikku.."

Summary: i. Though, the Lord mixes with us freely, He does not expect the souls
to act as per His wishes. Hence, He lowers Himself for practically whatever is
expected of the souls.

ii.The soul cannot withstand the sudden joy and experience if they are granted
at one go. Hence, the experience is given gradually.
iii. The Lord does not expect too much bhakthi. Even by coincidence or without
intention if one calls Him the Lord is ready to come towards the soul. Even
when the number 26 the Lord thinks "Oh! I am being called. Let Me go" 26 being
the 26th thathvam. Thus, the Lord makes Himself suitable for even such
accidental/intentional/coincidental invocations.

The relevant pAsuram-s:
i."nEr purai vaNnan" 1-8-11---> the eighth padhigam---> Instead of the souls
raising to the level of the Lord while mixing with Him, the Lord is flexible
and makes equates Himslef with them while mixing with them---> Arjva guNam.

ii."ennudaich chUzahl vuLAn to vuchiyuLLEA" 1-9-1--> the ninth padhigam--->
Granting joy and experience gradually to enable the soul to withstand this.

iii. " eNNilum varum en ini vENduvam"1-10-2;-the tenth padhigam.--> He makes
Himself available even on samll excuses.

Thus, the ten padhigam of first pathu in thiru-voi-mozhi is explained.

(to be continued )
vanamamalai padmanabhan
