Sri Parthasarathi thunai
Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha

Pranams,

This will be my last posting in the guru paramparai series. Now we will see the summary of the various works of our acharyas.

Before that let us see one interesting incident in the life of Sri Ramanuja. During the reign of the Kirimikanda chola Acharya Ramanuja had to flee from SriRangam to Melkote. In the way to Melkote one day the shisyas who came along with Ethirajar searched for a place to stay that night and finally found a hut of a potter. Seeing the shishyas with Thiruman on their fore head and shikai the potter was surprised. He asked who they were and where they have come from. The shisyas explained that they and their master Sri Ramanuja have fled from Sri Rangam and come over there. The potter has heard of the acharya but has never seen him. He became very happy that Ethirajar has come to his own place and he called his sons ?O! Nathamuni, O! Uyyakondar, A! Manakkal Nambi, A! Aalavandar, O! Periya Nambi, O! Thirumalai Nambi. Listening to this from Ethirajar?s eyes tears started rolling down. An Ethi is not supposed to cry and he should never think of his poorvashrama but Ethirajar cried listening to the names of the sons of the potter. When asked why, Ethirajar replied I feel bad that adiyen didn?t have the bhakyam of having sons and naming them after our acharyas as a result keep meditating on the names of the acharyas often. That was the greatness of our poorvacharyas and their acharya Bhakthi. Periyazhvar advised us to name our kids with the nama of bhagavan and says ?Naranan than annai naragam pugal? but our acharyas always advice us to name our kids with alwar-aacharya namas. Since in our sampradayam acharyas are regarded equal to emperuman and in some cases even greater than the bhagavan himself.

Our Poorvaacharyas not only educated their shisyas about the sampradayam and bhagavan they also have given number of srisookthis for enlightening the future generations. If a person starts learning the acharya srisookthis one by one then his whole life will not be enough. There are so many divya sookthis given by our great acharyas.
