Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha
Ariyar sevai is the oldest form of the stylized dance and chanting of the alvars hymns by the Ariyars in the Sri Vaisnava temple.
This tradition was introduced by Nathamuni was who was not only a savant and acarya but also adept in music. Nathamuni was aware that the Divya Prabandham had been originally set to music by the Alvars.
Believing that the songs would live only if many could chant and watch the most special poems danced with gestures and movements, Nathamuni is credited to have established the ritualistic system of performance called araiyar sevai (service of the royal priest) and theperformers came to be
known as "Araiyars".
