Dear Shri. Kalyan:

Thanks for raising the question with the group. I have been wanting to do Sudarakanda Parayanam (SP) as well. I have been thinking of asking my father in Chennai regarding any specific way to do SP.
Dear Shri. Tatachar:

Thanks for your well-informed reply to Shri. Kalyan's query. I hae some supplementary questions:

1) Is there any specific parayanam method followed  by SriVaishnavaites of thennacharya sampradayam? If so, what is it?

2) Is it possible for you to give me the preamble, the above-mentioned parayanam text, and the 17 shlokas to finish it off. If it seems too much of an ordeal, can you give me a link to such information on the Net that you may know of?

3) I bumped into some information on Navaratna Mantra Mala while doing a google search for Navaratna mala that I want to purchase as an offering to the diety in my father's hometown. Do you know anything of such mantras? I would like to clarify that I am not for doing any vendudhal to God with any request in mind. In God We Trust. I only want to thank God whom I worship in the form of Sriman Narayana.

Dear scholars of the group:

Kindly offer your valuable answers too to the above three questions.

Thanks for your help, time and patience,

Regards,
Mythili Ravi

Three kinds of Paaraayanam are recognized:

1. Nitya paaraayanam:
As many sargas as possible each day. No number restriction,
but don't stop in the middle of a sarga. There are 68 sargams in
Sundarakhandam, so a maximum of 68 days!

2. Saptasargi Paarayanam: Seven sargas per day for 9 days,
and on the 8 th day last 5 sargas plus the first two sargas (repeat) .

3. ShoDashaaha Paaraayanam: Number of sargas per day as noted in order
to complete in 16 days: 2-4-4-4-8-1-8-1-5-5-7-6-1-6-2-4

Preamble: Following shlokas:

1. Lakshminaatha samarambhaam......paramparaam

2. yo nityamachyuta...prapadye

3. maataa pitaa.......mUrdhnA

4. BhUtam sarashcha....nityam

5. pitaamahasyaapi ...namastaat

Stotrams on your Acharyan, Srimannarayana,
and other stotrams that you fancy.

a. Shuklaambharadharam.....shaanthaye
b. Yasyadvirad......upaasmahe
c. gnaanaanada mayam......upaasmahe.

kUjantam raama raameti...

START PAARAAYANAM

Shlokams at the end of Paarayanam. There are 17 of them.
I can send you these if you like, but
You may want to refer to Sundarasimham E-book series
headed by Sriman Sadagopan to see whether they have
info on Sundarakhanda paarayanam.
