Respected members: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali who is none other than the Great Adiseshan Himself has very aptly described this : 1. first He talks about the things which create problems in humans i.e. the mind and the thought processes 2. then He explores some solutions 3. Finally at some point He declares six facts: a.These problems can be overcome by meditating on /surrendering to a special entity. b. This special entity is defined as "Visesha Purusha" i.e. a Special and different entity c. The key features of this "Visesha Purusha" is unlike all of us, Visesha Purusha is not bound by time, kleshas(simplified as doshas ), gunas Note: Even Patanjali Himself admits - if one reads the various scholarly commentaries by various great persons including Vysya, Adi Sankara etc. - He Patanjali has some little residue of kleshas and gunas, whereas for the Visesha Purusha none of these are applicable. The concept of guna is totally not relevant to the Visesha Purusha. d. This Visesha Purusha is the most ancient and first/foremost Guru e. He manifests as sound OM f. And therefore, if nothing is possible, then one may meditate on this single word and that is enough Ultimately, the essence of what Patanjali has espoused is : There is a different, better, higher state/entity and this entity/state is what should be the ideal which we humans should strive to meet and this ideal/state/entity is UNLIMITED in all respects and is the substance of everything Om tat sat Tat tvam asi
