SrI:
SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest all,

After Nammazhwar anubhavams of Thiruvaymozhi [on
Thiruvenkatamudaiyaan], let us take up his other works
namely Tiruviruttham and Periya anthAthi.

Todayâ??s verse on ThiruvEnkatam from this wonderful
work is the 81st verse of Tiruviruttham. [with this
Thiruviruttham ThiruvEnkatam verses come to an end.
There is only ONE mroe verse from Periya AnthAthi. The
verses from Iraamanusa NooRanthAthi will be taken in
my next series on the same.. soonest:-) ]

Let us continue to enjoy the 81st verse today....

In this verse, the friend of our Parankusa nakayi
corrects her mother and cautions her not to get angry
on the God for the daughterâ??s pitiable plight. The
friend also advises the mother not to satisfy the demi
gods and street corner deities [ellai deivam] and
offer lowly stuff [like slaying of animals]. Instead
utter His divine name to the Nayakiâ??s ears and she
will be cured.

Parankusa naayaki is thinning down thinking of her
Lord all the time suffering from the pangs of
separation. Her mother laments and thinks mistakenly
it is due to deiva kOpam [God is angry on her] and
wants to please the demi god thinking that Muruga had
occupied her mind; Nayakiâ??s friend corrects the
mother feeling bad for her motherâ??s wrong notion
about the suffering and the incorrect remedy.

Doesnâ??t her mother understand the cause for her
disease? Why does she take up such negative and crude
remedies and treatment on her? It will only antogonise
and aggravate her illness. Didnâ??t she take birth of
this nAyaki? Doesnâ??t she understand what the
daughter needs? Is there no one who can adorn her
tresses with thuLasi flowers that were offered to the
Lord Sriman Narayana? [if they do, the illness will be
cured immediately]. Donâ??t they think of taking her
to ThiruvEnkatam to cure her disease? If this
continues, her body will perish with the burning pangs
of separation from her Lord. [their treatment would
only accelerate the same].

VEnkatangaL Attavum- We will bring her to
ThiruvEnkatam- why donâ??t they pray to Him [as
vENduthal- prarthana].

Inner meaning: Some half baked pseudo sages seeing
AzhwAr suffering and longing to unite the Lord,
suggest some different crude solutions; while
Bhagawathas understanding AzhwArâ??s mind, feel bad
and advise for placing the Lordâ??s thuLasi on AzhwAr
ThirumEni; take Him to the abode of srinivasa â??
ThiruvEnkatam etc..

EmperumAn prasaadham and Dhivya Desa vaasam alone can
cure AzhwAr suffering;

This verse is similar to Thiruvaymozhi 4.6 decad
wherein the mother and friends suggest different
treatments for Parankusa nayaki and the â??rightâ??
friend understanding Nayaki, advises them and corrects
them reasoning out thus: This state has arisen because
of Bhagawaan and you can do little about it; Only
uttering his divine names and applying the dust from
bhagawathaâ??s feet can overcome this predicament.
This decad prohibits worship to any lesser devatha and
exhorts one to chant Dwarakeesaâ??s Name, prostrate to
His Lotus Feet; sing and dance praising His glories.
He will enable one to overcome all sorrows.

AzhwAr ThiruvaDigaLE SaraNam
Regards
Namo Narayana
