Dear Swamin,

Here is the basis:

ya-jn^a-shi-SHTA-shi-nah sa-nto
mu-chya-nte sa-rva-ki-lbi-SHaih |
bhu-n^ja-te te tva-gham pA-pA
ye pa-cha-ntyA-tma-kA-ra-Nat ||
|| Bhagavad-Gita III-13||

The righteous people consume food remaining
 after being offered to a ya-jn^a and are thus
 released from all evils; but the wicked, who
prepare food for their own sake, indeed eat only sin!

ya-jn^a-shi-SHTa (remnants of a yajn^a,
 food remaining after performance of an yajn^a,
remannats of fire offering, food offered in worship).

Note: The BEST yagna as per BG X-25c is JAPA
(ya-jn^A-nAm ja-pa ya-jn^ah a-smi).
Thus if we mentally offer food to God and
eat it as prasadam, it is sanctified food.
Otherwise, we are eating only sin!
This can be done wherever we are.
No need to rush to nearest PerumAL
sannidhi.

a-shi-nah (eating, consume)
sa-ntah (the righteous, good, devotees, true)
mu-chya-nte (they are released, are liberated, are freed)
sa-rva (all kinds of)
 ki-lbi-SHaih (from sins, from wrongs, from evils).
bhu-n^ja-te (eat, relish, enjoy)
 te (they, those)
 tu (indeed, but)
a-gham (sin, impurity, pain, suffering)
pA-pAh (the wicked, sinners, the evil ones, sinful ones)
ye (who)
 pa-cha-nti (prepare food, they cook, they digest)
A-tma (own, self)
kA-ra-Nat (for the sake of)

Thus, simply taking Lord's name
or any hymn you are familiar
with is fine.
Remember, eating food is
traditionally referred to as
 PerumAl amshe.
Some popular shlokas from BG
used for offering amshe are:

bra-hmA-rpa-Nam bra-hma ha-vih
bra-hmA-gnau bra-hma-NA hu-tam |
bra-hmai-va te-na ga-nta-vyam
bra-hma-ka-rma-sa-mA-dhi-nA ||IV-24||
||Bhagavad-Gita IV-24||

Brahman is the offering,
Brahman is the clarified butter,
Brahman is the fire to which
Brahman makes the offering;
Brahman indeed is to be attained
by one who is absorbed in action,
which is also Brahman.
 bra-hma (Brahman)
a-rpa-Nam (the oblation, offering)
 bra-hma (Brahman)
ha-vih (the clarified butter, ghee)
bra-hma (Brahman)
a-gnau (in the fire)
bra-hma-NA (by Brahman)
hu-tam (poured/offered into the sacred fire) |
bra-hma (Brahman)
e-va (indeed)
te-na (by it, by him)
ga-nta-vyam (shall be reached, to be accomplished)
bra-hma-ka-rma (action is Brahman)
sa-mA-dhi-nA (is absorbed, in contemplation) ||
{bra-hma-ka-rma-sa-mA-dhi-nA
 (by one who is absorbed in action which is Brahman)}

a-ham vai-shvA-na-ro bhU-tvA
prA-Ni-nAm de-ha-mA-shri-tah |
prA-NA-pA-na-sa-mA-yu-ktah
pa-chA-mya-nnam cha-tu-rvi-dham ||xv-14||
(Bhagavd-Gita XV-14)
Having entered the bodies of creatures as
digestive fire and working in concert with
in-coming and out-going breaths,
I digest four kinds of food.

 a-ham  (I)
vai-shvA-na-rah [the fire vai-shvA-na-ra (the digestive fire )]
bhU-tvA (having become, becoming, as)
prA-Ni-nAm (of the breathing, of living beings)
de-ham (body)
A-shri-tah (entering, joining, inhabiting) |
prA-Na (inhalation, vital breath, in-coming breath)
a-pA-na (exhalation, abdominal breath, out-going breath)
 sa-mA-yu-ktah (associated with, united with)
{prA-NA-pA-na-sa-mA-yu-ktah
 (joined/together  with inhalation and exhalation)
pa-chA-mi(I digest)
a-nnam (food)
cha-tu-rvi-dham (of four kinds) ||xv-14||
