Memorial
Hall (1931)
The
original Memorial Hall was built in 1885 as a memorial primarily
to President Swain and to the sons of the University who served
in the Confederacy. The building was abandoned in 1929 due to
unsatisfactory conditions; the slate roof was too heavy. Today's
Memorial Hall holds many concerts and speakers in it's large auditorium
interior.
