How to measure with a Micrometer:By Nicholas Duarte and Brandon Cabana.

Take the object to be measured and put it between the two bottom teeth of the micrometer.

Squeeze it shut as close to the object as possible, making sure not to break the object or the micrometer.

Look at the right tooth at the bottom of the micrometer, which has the numbers 0-10 on it. (Arrow A)

Where the  first zero lines up with the scale above it indicates the diameter to 1/10 cm accuracy. (In this case 2.4)

If the zero line is in between two lines use the number to the left of it.

For a more accurate result look at the scale to the right of the bottom tooth (This scale runs 0 to 10 in point 05 mm intervals) try to find where one of the lines, is continous with the line above it. The micrometer can get an accurate reading up to the thousandth place. (Arrow B) In this instance the measurement comes out to be 2.415.
