Zippy Returns

Host Eric Hodge speaks with Durham-based, best-selling author Haven Kimmel. Haven’s new book, “She Got Up Off The Couch” (Free Press/2006) is a sequel to her memoir, “A Girl Named Zippy” (Doubleday/2001), a book that delighted readers with its witty tales from Mooreland, Indiana. Haven is also the author of two novels, “The Solace of Leaving Early” (Anchor/2003) and “Something Rising (Light and Swift)” (Free Press/2005), as well as a children’s book, “Orville: A Dog’s Story” (Clarion Books/2003). Greensboro Police Chief Resigns

Greensboro Chief of Police David Wray resigned Monday amid allegations of racial profiling and a “black book” of individuals believed to be targeted by a special police task force. This isn’t the first time Greensboro has had to battle race relations issues within its ranks. Host Eric Hodge talks with News and Record reporter Eric Townsend about the controversial resignation. Hidden Images

More than 100 years ago the Wright Brothers successfully flew the first heavier-than-air craft. The Wright Brothers documented every step of that 10-year process through photography – photography that was some of the best of its time. Until now, many of the details like dates, people and places associated with those photographs have been missing or just wrong. Host Eric Hodge talks with Larry Tise about his latest book, “Hidden Images: Discovering Details in the Wright Brothers’ Kitty Hawk Photographs 1900-1911” (History Press/2005). (17:30)
