Reaction To Rape Charges at Duke

Host Frank Stasio speaks with author and historian Tim Tyson about the recent incident involving Duke University’s men’s lacrosse team. Durham police are investigating rape and sodomy charges against several team members. The incident allegedly occurred on March 13th, during a party at which an African-American woman was hired as an exotic dancer. (12:00)

Kenny Roby

He’s been labeled a roots rocker and critics have likened his songs to those of Bob Dylan and Neil Young. But Kenny Roby, one-time leader of the Raleigh band Six String Drag, says his music is just as much a reflection of his love of punkers like the Clash and Bad Brains. And he points to his latest release “The Mercy Filter” as an example. Kenny Roby and guitarist Scott McCall play a few songs from the album and chat with host Frank Stasio. (17:30)

Full Frame Festival

As documentaries become mainstream blockbusters, the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, held annually in Durham, has added relevance in today’s culture. We talk with Full Frame founder Nancy Buirski about the 9th annual festival and its importance to North Carolina. Hidden Voices

Host Frank Stasio visits a rehearsal and speaks with some of those putting on the play “Respect Has Seven Letters.” The play features a cast of adult learners who tell what it’s like to be unable to read in a literate world. Voices you will hear include: artistic director Lynden Harris and actors Wendy Williams and Copland Andrews. “Respect Has Seven Letters” will be performed Saturday, March 25 at 8:00 pm at The Arts Center in Carborro and Sunday at 3:00 pm at Farrington Barn in Pittsboro.
