RTI In Iraq

RTI in Iraq: RTI international is a not-for-profit contract research institute based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. In April of 2003, RTI began work on a local governance project in Iraq under a contract with the US Agency for International Development (USAID). RTI was the only organization to bid on the reconstruction project. After two years, the project was opened to other bidders amid mounting security concerns in Iraq. Host Rusty Jacobs leads a conversation about RTI International and its role in the Iraq reconstruction effort. Guests include: Kevin Begos, investigative reporter for the Winston-Salem Journal; Jay Price, reporter for the News and Observer; Tom Cook, an independent international development advisor who evaluated RTI’s project in Iraq; and Patrick Gibbons, spokesperson for RTI. Listener Call-In. (59:00)
