The State of Poetry in North Carolina

In observance of National Poetry Month, host Frank Stasio speaks with Alan Shapiro, author of eight books of poetry (most recently, “Tantalus In Love,” Houghton Mifflin/2005) and two memoirs and a professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Glenis Redmond, a performance poet from western North Carolina, and Carole Boston Weatherford, poet and children’s book author from High Point. We also check in with the Desert City Reading Series and the poetry program at the Greensboro Public Library. Also, don’t forget the Carrboro Poetry Festival in May. Listener Call-In. (59:00)
