Sea Turtles

In month two of sea turtle nesting season on North Carolina’s beaches, turtle biologists and conservationists are watching closely to see if this year will be better than the last. The 2004 season proved to be one of the worst nesting seasons in the past twenty years. Host Melinda Penkava talks with Larry Crowder, professor of marine ecology and director of the Center for Marine Conservation at Duke University, and Matthew Godfrey, biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, about balancing the sea turtles’ plight with fishery, construction, and beach renourishment.
